Hello everyone! I would like to say, right off the bat, that I made this system almost 1-2 years ago. However, I was spurred to make a video by a question I received on Reddit, so I tried to dig up some details to make a video and document my project. • One great resource that got me started with programming my parallel port (things have changed over at sourceforge it seems, but the code is still downloadable now in source or executable format) is here: http://parashell.sourceforge.net/ • This is the same relay board I used: https://www.amazon.com/SainSmart-101-... • This is a great addition to a home server, but a desktop may be too much of a power hog to be kept online all the time. • I've been wary about posting this, because machines can be configured in so many ways and I wouldn't know how to troubleshoot others' systems if they had questions! • The schematics will vary for different setups and the hardware could be totally different. I looked for a replacement remote for this project too, but I couldn't find anything reasonably priced. They should be a dime a dozen though. • Please don't try to undertake this type of project if you don't have the experience or supervision to do so.
