Easier Three Point Hitch Hookup

This video covers some real basics of tractor operation, but if you didn't grow up on a farm you may struggle trying to hook up implements. I'm going to show you two things in this video, one, how to use the extendable lower link arms that are options on many tractors. They extend out, you hook them up, then you back up to lock them in place. Second, I'm going to show you a little trick that you can do with the link arms…you can raise them manually with the tractor shut off so if they're lower than the pins on the implement, you can keep them narrow, then pick them up and get them hooked on without starting the tractor. Most of you probably know all of this already, but, again, if you didn't grow up around equipment this might help you. • I know I'm going to get questions about quick hitches . These are devices that enable rapid hooking and unhooking of implements that work great, provided the dimensions of the hook up are the same on all implements. I haven't decided to invest in one of these yet, but I have a buddy that swears by them and I'll be at his place in a couple of months and hope to do a video. If you're thinking about getting one of these, again, they work best if the three point hookups on the implements are all the same (usually that means the same brand), otherwise there may have to be some modification done to make them work. • I'm probably also going to get some questions about installing the extendable link ends on tractors that don't have them. You would think that would be an aftermarket option, but I've never seen it. On most tractors you have to order the option when you get the tractor, (see this video:    • Three Point Options  ) or, If you don't get it then, you have to piece a set together by ordering the parts individually and it becomes prohibitively expensive to do that. I keep thinking some after market tractor supplier will offer a kit with two lower arms with extendable links but I haven't seen that so far. If anyone knows about a kit like that, please let me know. • Finally, I didn't say it in the video but I always hook the left side (if you're on the tractor seat) of the two lower link arms up first because the right side has a crank that raises and lowers it. On some tractors they both have cranks or turnbuckles, on this one only the right side is adjustable, so I hook it up last. • SUPPORT THE TRACTOR MIKE CHANNEL:   / tractormike   • Visit the Tractor Mike website: http://asktractormike.com/ • Subscribe to YouTube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/tractormi... • Visit Facebook Page:   / ask-tractor-mike-312112962245304
