First time I heard this song, I was in a drug store, and it came on over the P.A. system. I stopped in my tracks and said, Hey! That's that Beastie Boys riff! (1:38) Funny how the first place you hear something becomes the strongest association. I've since learned to appreciate this song for its own merits as a groovy, funky, soulful dance number, but that one breakdown will always remind me of Hey Ladies! • This single pre-dates the disco era, so you can't call it disco.
