The Quaking Aspen Tree is one of North America's most iconic trees with one of the largest diversity in growing zones. The tree can be found in Northern Canada Zone 1 and as far south as Mexico Zone 7. Populus tremuloides, the Quaking Aspen's scientific name, is a fast growing shade tree that can reach heights of 25 feet in just 7 years! The tree grows over 24 per year. The Quaking Aspen reaches a height of 40-50 feet (some much higher) with a canopy spread of 20-30 feet. Quaking Aspens are pioneer trees, meaning they are one of the first trees to grow and take over a field. These trees develop into groves of trees, however the grove is often a single specimen as they root out new shoots from their roots. Aspens grow well in acidic, loamy, moist, sandy, well-drained and clay soils. They prefer abundant moisture. The tree provides stunning yellow fall color, movement and soft pleasant sound (quaking) to the landscape. Their white trunks make the specimen a year round ornamental treasure all though the tree is deciduous. Quaking Aspens are typically found in higher altitudes, but they can be grown in some lower altitudes with care. • #trees #plantatree #arbordayfoundation #aspentrees #homeandgarden #arborist #treehugger #savetheplanet
