For our control systems tutorials, we will be using Scilab to help with the math and visualization, so we figured we would do a quick series on how to use Scilab, starting with this introduction to Scilab. While Matlab is very common in educational settings, and a wonderfully powerful tool, it is extremely expensive for most non-commercial users. Scilab is an open-source solution that is very similar to Matlab in function and interface and is freely available across a wide variety of platforms. In this tutorial, we go over the basic interface of Scilab and show its basic usage as well as hint at future, more powerful ways to use it. • As always, this tutorial is based on a written version - to see Kushal's tutorial that goes even more in-depth on Scilab, check it out here: https://www.circuitbread.com/tutorial... • Table of Contents: • 0:00 Introduction • 1:30 Initial Interface • 3:58 Introduction to SciNotes • 4:48 Basic Controls • 6:10 Matrices - Columns, Rows • 10:35 Basic programming syntax • 12:45 Plotting graphs • 15:17 The toast will never pop up • For electronics tools, tutorials, equations and more check out our site: https://www.circuitbread.com • And check out our Friends of CircuitBread, who offer special discounts, product samples, resources and more to our users: https://www.circuitbread.com/friends • CircuitBread is joining the fight to help people more easily learn about and use electronics.
