Howdy yall • This project was definitely inspired by Chop Stick door chimes project by Chris, with the famous Toto Volvo from Africa. • Well I wanted to do something very similar, but missed out on his kick starter, and couldnt find any information out there as to how to make it actually happen. • So here it is in a nutshell: • Buy PUI Audio Indicator • https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/... • Locate door chime (big white box for me) • Using a multimeter, determine which wires or part of the chime circuit will provide the positive voltage source (7v to 21v range). You want this power supply to automatically drop whenever the door is shut, so that the chime isnt constantly blaring. • I lucked out, and was able to just tee off the wiring going to the connector. You may have to plug in the OE chime, and solder the leads of the new indicator to portions of the circuit board. (NOTE: This can be a dangerous operation and is likely to void some sort of warranty. I cannot be responsible for any damages resulting from actions deviating from those listed here.) • The PUI indicator comes with free software, and its really easy to add whatever sound clip you want. Download audacity (also free) and record a clip around 30-90 seconds. Open the PUI software, plug it in, and write to the device. Easy! • This was done on a POS 1991 Ford Explorer Sport 2D, but should be easily replicated on other platforms. Hope this helps somebody!
