Cat with abscess

After one year • the cat with abscess came for annual... • • I specified that general anaesthesia was used because many people thought the cat was dead.... • The word anaesthesia comes from the Greek meaning lack of sensation . Anaesthesia is accomplished by administering drugs that depress nervous function. With general anaesthesia, the patient is made unconscious for a short period. During this unconscious state, there is muscular relaxation and a complete loss of pain sensation. • Other types of anaesthesia include local anaesthesia such as numbing a localized area of skin or a tooth, and spinal anaesthesia, such as an epidural block, that results in anaesthesia of a particular part of the body (https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pe.... • Feline anaesthesia is generally broken into premedication (sedation), anaesthetic induction, and anaesthetic maintenance. • As with other species, anaesthesia (maintenance) can be accomplished via inhalation or parenteral methods. (https://www.researchservices.umn.edu/...) • So I used injectable anaesthesia. My protocol was: • premedication with atropine (reduce the salivation, increases heart and respiratory rate), SC • after 10 minutes I gave him a combination of butorphanol (analgesic or pain control medication, pre-anaesthetic, antitussive or cough suppressant and antiemetic or prevents vomiting) and medetomidine (sedative analgesic) IM • after 5 minutes i gave him a combination of ketamine (general anaesthetic) IM • During this procedure the eye was protected with a transparent gel to prevent corneal drying because the cat sleep with the eyes open. • This was injectable anaesthesia. The inhalation anaesthesia require special equipment (gas machine, oxygen, masks, inhaling gases, etc.). • Now lets see there is a abscess or a hematoma. At first glance it seems to be just blood and so it is. But at some point you can also see pus mixed with blood. • Let's see what happened from the beginning: • the cat was brought to the clinic with a soft formation on the left side of the face • after examining it I decided to mow the area and make a puncture with a needle size18G (if you look carefully before the incision you will see a red dot on the cat skin) • I pulled some of the pus (around 4 ml) with a syringe but the cat became aggressive and I decided to anesthetize it • most likely by puncture I touched a small blood vessel that filled part of the cavity with blood • after the anaesthesia and local cleaning i made a incision with a scalpel blade • after the incision blood flowed from the skin and after pressing with the fingers, blood began to come out mixed with a small amount of pus • the cavity was emptied and I inserted iodinated ether with the syringe and a spray with antibiotic • he also received antibiotic and anti-inflammatory tablets at home for 10 days • For those who think the cat is dead please look closely at the top right and you will see the movements of the chest. • • He was neutered in the same day....
