The start of a new season is a great excuse to refresh our handmade wardrobes with some contemporary new looks by sewing the Autumn trends. In this video I've picked out six key Autumn trends and the patterns and fabrics you can use to sew them up in. As always everything is linked below. • Sewing trend one - foundation pieces/quiet luxury mixing cool, comfy casuals with more tailored pieces for an elevated look. Think leggings, hoody and trench coat or wide leg jeans, shirt and trench then swap out the trench for a wool coat when the temperatures drop. • Sewing trend 2 - red! Red is literally everywhere and is a welcome pop of colour in an otherwise understated, monochrome and neutral traditional Autumn Winter palette. Sew red tops, dresses, trouser suits, whatever takes your fancy, red is the colour of the season. • Sewing trend 3 - moody, dark winter florals - large and ditsy prints with black backgrounds and sumptuous hues, skirts with thigh slits, tops and blouses. • Sewing trend 4 - tailoring. Again mixing classic tailoring with more casual pieces to create a modern, contemporary look. Wide leg trousers, waistcoats and trainers, shirts with jeans and blazers. • Sewing trend 5 - the denim midi skirt. These are literally everywhere and they are super versatile and easy to wear paired with trainers, ankle boots, knee high boots, leather bomber or biker jackets, tshirts, shirts, blouses, fitted tops and lightweight knits. The options really are endless. • Sewing trend 6 - checks. A super easy way to incorporate this trend is with a checked scarf, otherwise go for separates or coats and jackets in unusual colour combos. • So much fun to be had and so many classic pieces to wear again and again, what are you waiting for?
