Speaker Atkins Honors “Luann” Comic Strip Creator

(Sacramento) – Assembly Speaker Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego) presented a special resolution to cartoonist Greg Evans during a recent floor session in honor of the 30th anniversary of his comic strip “Luann”. Speaker Atkins told her colleagues, “This is a fun and funny comic strip that has tackled serious issues as well including how people were affected by 9-11, classmates fighting cancer, relationship abuse and helping young girls understand the changes in their bodies and their lives.” Joining Evans for the special presentation was his wife Betty and their youngest daughter Karen, who was an inspiration for - and now helps her father draw - the “Luann” strip.
