Johann Georg Pisendel (1687-1755) • Sonata for Solo Violin without Bass in a minor (dated ?1716 by H. R. Jung) • Played by Yun Kim-Fernandez • Accompanied by beautiful photos by friends • Johann Georg Pisendel is relatively less known today but as a violinist, his phenomenal talent was appreciated by Albinoni, Vivaldi, Telemann and Bach who dedicated their compositions. • At the age of 25, he joined to play in Dresden court orchestra which attained the fame of its cultural achievement. Years later, he succeeded after Volumier who was the concertmaster of the orchestra and continued playing in Dresden his whole life. One of the missions as a court musician for him, was to collect and arrange the instrumental repertoires. He was so passionate that he collected more than required! The musical works which didn't belong to the official court repertoires remain as his private collection today. Thanks to his enthusiasm, we have great pleasure to discover his fine copies of wonderful pieces. • His Sonata for Solo Violin without Bass is dated a couple of years before he started to have lessons in composition with Heinichen. Seeing that Bach's fair copies of his famous Sei Solo (a.k.a. Sonatas and Partitas ) are dated in 1720, they are composed in the very similar period. • His acquaintance with Bach was in 1709. Heading to Leipzig for his study, he stopped by Weimar. We can reach with a couple of clicks on the computer to the copies of Concerto for 2 violins by Telemann(TWV 52:G2), beautifully done by Bach and Pisendel. These two great musicians, back then in their 20s, played this concerto together. We are not sure if Telemann took part of it but the friendship between Telemann and Pisendel lasted until Pisendel's last breath on which Telemann published an ode in honor of his friend. • We wanted for long time to upload this piece on our channel. Its difficulty demanded certain time to prepare. As the pandemic gets longer, I thought that now is the time to play it, which expresses certain solitude that we all feel these days... • The beautiful photos present here are to reduce this feeling, to feel the link between us, to comfort us. Researching on Pisendel, we are deeply moved by his loyal, numerous, deep and long lasting friendships. • Thanks to the friends who allowed us to share their photos: • @bob_bare / bob_bare (7:40) • @chanhanss / chanhanss (0:49, 6:29) • Enrique Campos@facebook / enrique.camposv (6:00) • Hyejin Nahm@facebook / hibicycle (7:01) • @jacinto.n.neves / jacinto.n.neves (2:39) • Jin Kim@facebook / jin.kim.52493 (1:28, 3:03, 5:12, 6:53) • @martinchiang_photography / martinchiang_photography (8:11, 9:19, 10:18) • @pink_barbapapa. / pink_barbapapa (4:04) • @pr.engel / pr.engel (1:05, 4:25) • @saffronshainsta. / saffronshainsta (5:30) • @sungchul.lee.12 / sungchul.lee.12 (7:24) • Wen Chuan Lin@facebook / tubbyviola (5:44) • And François not only contributed many photos (0:00, 2:04, 3:34, 8:43, 9:42, 10:58), but also helped me to record, film and gave me precious artistic advice as always. ;) • (4:48 photo by yun) • Do you want to know more about Pisendel?
