The badminton shuttlecock has been used for thousands of years. Everyday badminton players use plastic shuttlecocks, while serious players use feathered ones. Feathers must be a specific size and have a precise angle to them. If a machine with 26 sensors can't measure the exact degree of the feather, workers must manually do so with a specially calibrated chart. The process has many steps from then on, all taking into consideration feathers' angle and the shuttlecocks overall balance. • Watch full episodes of the Science Channel series How It's Made on the Science GO app or at: http://insder.co/HowItsMade • DESIGN INSIDER believes in the innovation of all things design: architecture, home, products, and more. • Subscribe to our channel: http://insder.co/Design and visit us at: https://thisisinsider.com • DESIGN INSIDER on Facebook:   / designinsider   • DESIGN INSIDER on Instagram:   / thisisinsiderdesign   • INSIDER on Twitter:   / thisisinsider   • Produced by: Medha Imam, Laura Bilash • How Badminton Birdies Are Made | Design Insider
