We as human beings are good at taking things that were intended for our benefit and layer it with legalism and rituals. What God may have intended for the good of our relationship with Him can drift into rituals, rights and procedures. In Matthew 12, Jesus is confronted by religious leaders who have lost sight of God’s design for Sabbath which is about rest and relationship and turned it into ritual.
