A quick video showing how I hardwired my laptop to our wireless router using the existing network outlets in my house, instead of using the WiFi for internet. • Instagram ►   / gnarangutang   • Steps: • 1. I used a wire toner to determine the which cable in the panel was coming from the outlet closest to the router. • 2. Then I used the toner to determine which cable in the panel was coming from the outlet in my room. • 3. I connected those cables in the panel using male/female CAT adapters and an ethernet cable. • 4. Then I connected the router to the closest outlet, and my laptop to the outlet in my room using more ethernet cables. • 5. After the LAN connection was established, I disabled the WiFi on my laptop under network settings, adapter settings. • I checked the connection speed difference using the Status window on each adapter. My connection speed to the router went from 300 Mbps to 1 Gbps, over 3 times faster! • So if you have network outlets and a panel in your house that aren't being used, I recommend hardwiring your computer to the internet. Bonus points if you do this and disable the Wifi on your router, drastically reducing EMF's in your home. • Tools used: • Wire Toner: http://amzn.to/2xbsBKH or http://amzn.to/2ygJ7aT • CAT Keystone coupler: http://amzn.to/2yfZg0c • Network cable: http://amzn.to/2xbPIVl • #LessEMF #HardwiredInternet #HomeNetworking
