On this day, the rematch between Evander Holyfield Alex Stewart took place; 4 years after their amazing 1st encounter where Holyfield triumphed via a gruelling RTD8. Both fighters were undefeated going into their 1st fight. • Prefight records; Holyfield 28(22)-1, Stewart 32(32)-4. • Since the loss to Holyfield, Stewart went 8(8)-3. His 3 losses were against top oppositions; Mike Tyson, Michael Moorer George Foreman. While Stewart was stopped in the 1st round against Tyson, he gave Moorer and Foreman a great fight, just as a he did Holyfield. • On the other hand, Evander went 5(3)-1 since his stoppage of The Destroyer. His lone loss was against a prime Riddick Bowe aka “Big Daddy” in November 1992. This rematch against Stewart was his comeback fight to rebound from his 1st professional defeat. • At this point, Holyfield had racked up a great number of wins against notable opponents such as James Tillis, Pinklon Thomas, Michael Dokes, Alex Stewart, James Douglas, Bert Cooper, George Foreman, Larry Holmes, Carlos De Leon, Tyrone Booze, Henry Tillman, Ricky Parkey Dwight Muhammad Qawi (2x). • The 1st six rounds was competitive, just as their 1st eight round encounter back in 1989. However, in the 2nd half Holyfield was clearly the better man and won most of the rounds en route to a huge UD win with scores of 119-109 118-110 (2x). • Stewart was cut in the 1st round, just as he was cut in the 2nd round in their 1st encounter; both times very early in the fight that more or less affected his performance later on. • After this win, Holyfield challenged Riddick Bowe in a rematch and in yet another gruelling affair and regained the WBA IBF World Heavyweight Titles via a close MD. The fight was marked by a bizarre incident; during the 7th round, parachutist James Miller who called himself “Fan Man” flew into the arena with a motorized paraglider and crashed into the ring ropes during the 7th round, causing a 21 minute delay to the fight as efforts to restore order was taking place. • The Fan Man incident was named The Ring Event of the Year 1993. • Enjoy this highlight of a spectacular win by the legendary Evander Holyfield and remember to SUBSCRIBE!
