Drosophila sp. has been chosen as a model organism in genetics as well as in developmental biology by its own merit. The life cycle of Drosophila involves complected cascade of events directing embryogenesis, development of three larval inster, pre-pupal, pupal and adult stages all occurring merely within a span of ten days. An adult Drosophila fly having three major section in its body, these are head, thorax and abdomen on which multiple segments are present. Early development of the embryo involves Zygote to form Syncitial blastoderm and then subsequently cellular blastoderm with pole cells at its one end giving rise to the germ cells at later stages of the life cycle. Then determination of dorso-ventral and anterio-posterior axes are directed by a number of morphogens.
