The Cape Hatteras National Seashore in North Carolina extends for 70 miles and covers over 30,000 acres. The National Seashore protects three barrier islands, including Bodie Island, Hatteras Island, and Ocracoke Island. The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is in Buxton, NC, and it is currently under restoration. Although visitors can’t climb it in 2023, the lighthouse is a must-do activity while visiting the Outer Banks.
