The Cranial Nerves quick and easy!: Learn each cranial nerve I-XII (1-12) with mnemonics and hints! • βœ… Overview • Set of 12 paired nerves that arise directly from our brain! Well the first two arise from the cerebrum rest of them from the brainstem. • *Midbrain - trochlear nerve CN 4 comes from the posterior side of the midbrain and is the longest intracranial length of all the CNs. • *Midbrain-pontine junction - oculomotor nerve CN 3 • *Pons - Trigeminal nerve CN 5 • *Pontine-medulla junction - abducens CN 6, facial CN 7, vestibulocochlear CN 8 nerves. • *Medulla oblongata - Posterior to the olive: glossopharyngeal CN 9, vagus CN 10, accessory CN 11 nerves. Anterior to the olive: hypoglossal nerve CN 12 • Cranial nerve tests will help you assess the neuro status of your patient. Each test is designed to target a specific cranial nerve (or group of nerves). Here are the twelve cranial nerves assessed in this video: • The 12 Cranial Nerves all have ways to remember them by. Here we speak about their origin, function, fiber and tips to remember them by. • βœ… Cranial Nerves • Cranial Nerve I (1): Olfactory Nerve • *Sensory: nose smell • Cranial Nerve II (2): Optic Nerve • *Sensory: eye sight • Cranial Nerve III (3): Oculomotor Nerve • *Motor: all eye muscles except those supplied by CN 4 and 6 (SO4 LR6 Rest 3) • Cranial Nerve IV (4): Trochlear Nerve • *Motor: eye movement from the superior oblique muscle • Cranial Nerve V (5): Trigeminal Nerve • *Sensory: face, sinuses, teeth • *Motor: jaw muscles • Cranial Nerve VI (6): Abducens Nerve • *Motor: eye movement from the lateral rectus muscle • Cranial Nerve VII (7): Facial Nerve • *Motor: submaxillary sublingual gland, muscles of the face • *Sensory: front of tongue and soft palate • Cranial Nerve VIII (8): Vestibulocochlear Nerve • *Sensory: hearing balance • Cranial Nerve IX (9): Glossopharyngeal Nerve • *Motor: swelling with pharyngeal musculature • *Sensory: taste sensation on back part of tongue (post. 1/3rd), tonsil, pharynx • Cranial Nerve X (10): Vagus Nerve • *Motor: heart, lungs, bronchi GI tract • *Sensory: heart, lungs, bronchi, trachea, larynx, pharynx, GI tract external ear. • Cranial Nerve XI (11): Accessory Nerve • *Motor: for trapezius sternocleidomastoid muscles. • Cranial Nerve XII (12): Hypoglossal Nerve • *Motor: all muscles of the tongue, except the palatoglossus. • #Cranialnerves #REVMED #anatomyvideos • _______________________________ • Timestamps • 0:00 - Overview, orientation, types of nerves • 1:24 - Mnemonics to use for Cranial Nerves! • 1:47 - 1st Cranial Nerve - Olfactory • 2:17 - Optic: 2nd Cranial Nerve • 2:33 - Oculomotor: 3rd Cranial Nerve • 3:34 - Trochlear: 4th Cranial Nerve • 4:03 - Abducens: 6th Cranial Nerve • 5:08 - Trigeminal: 5th Cranial Nerve • 6:26 - Facial: 7th Cranial Nerve • 7:33 - Vestibulocochlear: 8th Cranial Nerve • 8:15 - Glossopharyngeal: 9th Cranial Nerve • 9:15 - Vagus: 10th Cranial Nerve • 10:29 - Spinal Accessory: 11th Cranial Nerve • 11:20 - Hypoglossal: 12th Cranial Nerve • 12:21 - Recap Conclusion of Cranial Nerves • _______________________________ • πŸ’œ Share - Comment - Like!
