Woodturning Uisge Beatha Water of Life

Uisge Beatha is the Scottish Gaelic term (or Uisce Beatha for the Irish) for 'water of life', and over the years led to the eventual modern pronunciation of whisky/whiskey. I love both scotch whisky and Gaelic history so I felt it to be a fitting theme for my entry into the #YTCCC2021 March Water challenge. • In this video I use a piece of maple burl to create a replica of a Glencairn whisky glass, as developed by Glencairn Crystal, Ltd Scotland. I finished the exterior with Yorkshire Grit and microcrystalline wax, and the inside with Alumilite Amazing Quick Coat Epoxy, which is approved for direct/indirect food contact after fully curing. I waited a full 5 days after application before filming the final scenes of me using the glass. • I opened a brand new bottle of Lagavulin 16, which is my favorite whisky, to enjoy with this glass. • In this video I also had a ton of sticker swaps to catch up on.
