The region comprises four major valleys, viz, Choekhar, Tang, Ura and Chumey. Many important temples are concentrated in the vast Choekhar valley and are therefore commonly referred to as The Bumthang Valley. • Kenchosum Lhakhang (temple) was built in the 6th century but quite recently renovated in 1995, which accounts for its fresh look. It contained a large bell and it is said that when this bell was rung its sound could be heard all the way to Lhasa in Tibet. During the 17th century, Tibetan Army said to have tried to steal this bell but was too heavy so invaders dropped it and got cracked. It is now displayed at the National Museum in Paro.
