Pastor David Robbins brought part 2 of the series on Culture of Warriors this past Sunday. He reminded us of several things: • Spiritual warfare will come to us whether we want it or not. • Spiritual warfare is not one size fits all. God uses the rich variety in the church--different assignments, different anointings, and different giftings. Consequently, there are no lone wolves in the Body of Christ. • Spiritual warfare is not a matter of feelings. In fact, some feelings are just plain wrong. The Bible says that the heart is deceitfully wicked (Jer. 17:9). • True power is demonstrated against the hierarchy of demonic forces (Eph. 6:12). • When we partake of sinful things, we give the enemy access through them. This is especially true regarding unforgiveness. • We must find a balance when handling powers. • The enemy sometimes uses laws to force us to conform to the world. We fight these powers by resisting them. For example, Daniel resisted the law that said no one could pray to another god. Daniel chose to obey God and prayed to him anyway. John the Baptist criticized the religious rulers and stood for truth. Government can overstep their authority. When rulers disobey God, we must obey God rather than men! (Acts 4:29). • We can identify evil spirits in heavenly places by comparing their fruit with the Word and work of God. Evil spirits are demons. • Demons want to cause torment and suffering and to keep God’s people from serving Him. Life can sometimes be easier by not serving God. But demons bring counterfeit joy. • Demons have personhood. • Jesus has authority over demons. Most people who Jesus delivered were average people. But Jesus was not embarrassed by the disruptions, he cast out the demons. • They rest inside a person. They hide in the dark places within us. • Demons can have controlling influence, but they have been defeated. The One who created all things is the One who owns everything (Deut. 10:14) and has authority over all. (The Bible says that Satan is the god of this age [2 Cor. 4:4]. Whereas, God is the King of the ages [Rev. 15:3]). • Sometimes we battle against the flesh, but sometimes demonic spirits are influencing things. • Don’t deny spiritual warfare. Being apathetic can lead to generational problems. • Deliverance is a ministry of Jesus, so we operate in deliverance at CCC. Our church is a “hospital” where people can be set free.
