How to fix a carabiner with a broken gate • In this video, I show how a simple lightweight carabiner works and how the spring in the gate of a carabiner can easily be repaired with a simple standard screwdriver. As shown in the video, the spring in this type of carabiner can sometimes slip out of the spot that holds it. People often think the carabiner is broke when this happens because the gate does not snap back closed like it normally should; however, most of the time the metal spring piece has just come off the spot that holds it. Next time your simple lightweight carabiner has lost its spring, check this solution and it will likely be your fix.
