Avianca has an interesting approach to long haul Business Class . If you're travelling within the Americas, there is no Business Class fares for sale. Only differing levels of Economy Class fares wit privilages. The strange thing is that they still use the same aircraft as their trans-oceanic service, so they do have Business Class Seats . Instead, you can buy any level of Economy fare and then pay for the upgraded seat. • On Avianca, you pay to reserve a seat ahead of time. Seats start around $10 and increase depending on what location they are at in the aircraft. To book the lie-flat seats, you'll end up paying around $200-300 to reserve that seat on top of whichever Economy fare you selected. Any un-selected seats can be chosen for free at check-in as well. A VERY good deal for a long haul, lie-flat seat. • The interesting thing, is that you still are only given the Economy Class Experience since everyone on the airplane is travelling with an Economy fare (you just paid for a bigger seat). This means no free lounge access (paid access okay, free for Star Alliance Priority) or extra food/beverage. • 0:00 Arriving EZE • 1:30 Avianca Check In • 2:52 EZE Term C • 4:39 Star Alliance Lounge • 7:13 Boarding • 9:00 A330 Seat • 15:00 Takeoff EZE • 19:01 In Flight Entertainment • 21:37 Snack Service • 23:51 Arrival BOG • 28:47 Beginning 787 • 29:11 Check In BOG • 31:19 BOG Int'l Term • 33:12 Avianca Lounge • 37:05 Boarding • 39:07 787 Seat • 41:23 Pushback/Taxi BOG • 43:00 Takeoff BOG • 46:11 IFE • 47:54 Seat Modes • 49:00 Meal Service • 50:18 Snack Service • 51:49 Arrival LAX • 54:40 LAX Int'l Arrivals
