BLENDER TIP UDIMS IN BLENDER amp SUBSTANCE PAINTER INCREASE UV RESOLUTION

If you are using Blender and Substance Painter, here is a workflow for increasing your UV resolution by adding UV tiles (UDIMS) in a practical example using a simple sci-fi model. • If you model something that has a lot of parts, you can spend a long time trying to cram everything into the typical UV space. You can increase the size of this part and decrease the size of that part as you struggle to get the resolution you will need. This is especially true for characters that need to have skin or hair detail. • What if you could have multiple UV spaces and you could devote entire UV tiles to the various parts of your model for extreme detail? That's where UDIMS are useful. • In this video, I will show you one workflow for unwrapping a model in Blender and moving parts of the model to different UV tiles. Then I will export the model as an FBX for texturing in Substance Painter. You will see the difference in the texture resolution in Substance Painter. And then I will bring the textures back into Blender and set them up there where you will see the final result. • There is much more to this topic and I encourage you to watch the many excellent video tutorials about this on YouTube. I may do some further videos about this but hopefully this will be enough to get you interested and experimenting and you can decide if this is something you want to do. • #blenderbeginner #blendermodeling #UDIMS
