Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is a rare complication of fertility treatments that can cause a number of symptoms, including: • Abdominal pain: Mild to severe pain in the abdomen • Abdominal swelling: Mild to severe swelling in the abdomen • Nausea and vomiting: Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea • Weight gain: Rapid weight gain, more than 10 pounds in 3 to 5 days • Shortness of breath: Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath • Decreased urination: Less urine output or infrequent urination • Other symptoms: Tenderness in the ovaries, feeling faint, lightheadedness, dizziness, facial numbness or weakness, difficulty speaking, or passing out • OHSS symptoms typically appear a few days after ovulation and resolve within two weeks.
