How to Replace a Window Pane

RealCraft's ultimate guide on window pane replacement. • Read Below for More Detailed Instructions: • 1. Working from the Exterior / Weathered side, release all the caulk from the pane's edges. • 2. Working from the Interior / Non-weather side, remove the Window Stickings from the pane. It is crucial to remove them from the interior side to not break the waterproof seal. • 3. Gently push the pane from the exterior side to make sure it is ready for removal. If loose, push the pane out fully from the exterior side. Have your other hand on the interior side ready to grasp it. • 4. Working from the interior side make sure to get all the caulk off the back of the board. You want to make sure it is completely smooth for a tight seal. • 5. Apply new caulk all the way around the board, making sure to stay to the center. We used a caulking gun with a 1/8th inch opening. • 6. Apply the new pane and push it into the new caulk. Make sure the caulk has pushed into all sides of the pane. • 7. Reapply your interior Window Stickings. • 8. Pin your Window Stickings back on. Here we use a micro pinner and put four pins on each side. • 9.
