A large Afrovenator abakensis dinosaur tooth from Marandet (Marandade), Aderbissinat in the Agadez region in the country of Niger where many other famous genera like Suchomimus and Sarcosuchus were discovered. Unlike those Lower Cretaceous genera, this theropod comes from a much older deposit in the Middle Jurassic aged Irhazer Group which is split between the Irhazer II Formation and Tiourarén Formation. The heavily fractured and shattered looking appearance is normal for Jurassic deposits in the region, and the specimen is surprisingly solid and stable like concrete despite appearances. • #afrovenator #dinosaur #fossil #megalosaurus #jurassic
