Vicksburg National Military Park preserves the site of the American Civil War Battle of Vicksburg, waged from May 18 to July 4, 1863. The park, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Delta, Louisiana, also commemorates the greater Vicksburg Campaign, which preceded the battle. Reconstructed forts and trenches evoke memories of the 47-day siege that ended in the surrender of the city. Victory here and at Port Hudson gave the United States control of the Mississippi River. • Other videos of the Vicksburg, Mississippi area are: • USS Cairo Gunboat • USS Cairo Gunboat • Coca-Cola Museum • Coca-Cola Museum • Old Depot Museum • Old Depot Museum • Old Courthouse • Historic Vicksburg Courthouse • For more of our travel videos, please go to • / freetravelwithus • Please email us at [email protected] with any helpful suggestions on how we can do a better job documenting our travels and getting the word out about our website.
