Two back-to-back Pennsylvania trips, almost? Eh, sort of. The one taken from December to January was to visit family. Now early last week (Sunday to Wednesday), I was in Carlisle, PA for an orientation with Knight Transportation. After Day 1 of orientations, which was a few hours long, I decided to drive on up to Duncannon, PA to railfan. It wasn't too bad for a few hours. Enjoy. • Train #1: While arriving in Duncannon (exiting Route 15 and getting to the former station building), an unidentified Eastbound manifest (update: it's 10K) was already passing Sherman Creek next to the road. It has a sole C6M up front. No idea if there was a mid-DPU, as some of the train was blocked out by buildings when I was pulling in. • AC44C6M 4153 (ex-C44-9W 8960) • Train #2 (3:02): An unidentified westbound intermodal (my scanner was rusty here for some reason) passes by. Update: It's 259. • C44-9W 9957 • AC44C6M 4523 (ex-C44-9W 9381) • AC44C6M 4598 (ex-C44-9W 9280) • Train #3 (7:02): NS 20X (I think it is, as I know I heard that symbol on the scanner) carefully creeps by the former PRR station at Duncannon. The engineer gave me a toot of the K5LA! • C44-9W 9967 • SD70ACe 1004 • C44-9W 9793 • Train #4 (12:22): NS 18N pulls to a stop at Duncannon. I was wondering what they were waiting on (I didn't hear it too coherently on the scanner other than someone going to Duncannon). Then later I saw the crew van arrive and the crew stepping out of the cab and then talking with the relief crew, so soon I knew what was going on. Once the old crew was off in the van and the fresh crew got onboard and everything, NS 18N continues east. It wasn't until the end came into sight when I noticed that SD70ACC 1800 (one of the Tails Bonnet ACCs) was bringing up the rear as a DPU. That sure was neat. Also notice how the lead C6M has some writing on the white safety stripe, like someone wrote Kill in front of where it says AC44C6M and stuff. • AC44C6M 4030 (ex-C40-9 8837) • SD70ACC 1800 (ex-SD70 2537, Tails Bonnet, DPU) • Train #5 (21:35): Another eastbound intermodal catches me off guard as it races around the curve and through the trees, paralleling the Susquehanna River. I was sitting in the car, warming up and charging my camera (it was cold out there) when suddenly he came shooting through suddenly. I had little time to react, so I'd take what I can get. • C44-9W 9966 • AC44C6M 4175 (ex-C44-9W 8936) • Train #6 (23:56): Last train of the evening. Another unknown westbound intermodal cruises through town with an SD70ACe leader. Not bad to finish off the day with an EMD leader at least. • SD70ACe 1098 • ES44DC 7638 • SD70ACC 1832 (ex-SD70 2543) • AC44C6M 4310 (ex-C44-9W 9207) • (26:32): Slideshow of the catches, as well as other pictures I took around the area, or on the way there (which includes the historic station building in Marysville, PA). It sure was a neat railfanning spot at an old station building, and I got a nice view out back too! • Music: • F-777: Dance of the Violins 2 •   / nicholas.clemens.7965   •   / richmondcityrailfan
