This tutorial shows how to update the BIOS on ASRock X570 Creator motherboard from a flash drive without a CPU installed to support AMD Ryzen 5000 CPUs. Many motherboards will not come from the factory with the latest version of BIOS which supports these new CPUs. The only option how to update their BIOS would be using older Ryzen 3000 series CPUs in combination with the old BIOS (the one they were shipped with) using their standard update function in the BIOS and having CPU cooler, GPU, RAM, monitor, mouse and other power cables connected to the motherboard and watching whole BIOS update process on the monitor. Using Flashback button function solves this problem - it is quick and efficient. • Flash drive used in the video: • SanDisk 32GB Ultra USB 3.0 Flash Drive - https://amzn.to/2Xwaqzm • The link is affiliate. Using it helps my channel and there is no additional cost to you. • Update - 21.12.2020 - updated to a new BIOS v3.30 - I noticed better single core CPU boost running AIDA64 - CPU Queen test and slightly better result in FP64 RayTrace test - something changed for better ;) Will do more testing later. BIOS v3.13 was removed from the website. • WARNING! • It may happen that your motherboard (other than ASRock X570 Creator) doesn´t come with a “Flashback button” function. So first check your motherboard´s manual if it has it before attempting to perform BIOS update this way. If it does have it, you´ll have to download the BIOS from your motherboard manufacturer´s website, extract it to a flash drive and potentially rename it (based on what your manual says) to a different file name than what was shown in this video. Only the process of formatting your flash drive to FAT32 file system remains identical. • SOLUTION • In case your motherboard doesn´t have BIOS Flashback button function and your version of preinstalled BIOS doesn´t support Ryzen 5000 CPUs and you don´t have any other CPU than your new Ryzen 5000 at your disposal - YOU´LL NEED TO BORROW AN OLDER CPU (Ryzen 2000/Ryzen 3000) and do a standard BIOS update with all components (GPU, RAM, CPU power cables, CPU cooler, keyboard, mouse) connected to the motherboard and watch the whole update process on your monitor. The update process takes a few minutes. But because you have to install and connect all these components make sure you borrow the CPU for at least one hour to be able to do it comfortably without a rush. Then you´ll return back the borrowed CPU and live happily ever after ;) • To see detailed description of features of ASRock X570 Creator motherboard, see my Unboxing Complete features description video here - • ASRock X570 Creator - Unboxing comp... • Video content - chapters: • 0:00 - Intro • 0:34 - What you´ll need for CPU-less BIOS update • 0:52 - Which version of BIOS does your motherboard have? • 1:21 - Preparation of the flash drive for BIOS update • 3:14 - Dowloading BIOS for AMD Ryzen 5000 CPUs support • 4:52 - Extracting the BIOS to root directory on the flash drive • 5:39 - Renaming the dowloaded BIOS file to creative.rom file name • 6:42 - Plugging main ATX cable with 24pin connector to the MB • 7:04 - Plugging powercord to the power supply and turning it ON • 7:23 - Plugging flash drive with BIOS to USB BIOS Flashback port and flashing new BIOS • 8:01 - Removing flash drive from USB BIOS Flashback port • 8:09 - Outro - including additional info
