A review I made of the extra low temperature fujitsu 15RLS3YH xlth mini split I purchased on HVACdirect.com as I really couldn't find many reviews on the unit. The unit was around $1900 ish but they had a $200 coupon. The online chat really helped me decide what all needed from start to end to install it (~$200 dollars more). We locally had a $1200 rebate from our power company for any unit over 21 SEER and 10.5 hspf. • The model unit is the 15,000 rated btu unit. The unit can produce between 22k btu and 8k btu depending on outdoor temperature and humidity. We mainly choose the unit for it's low temperature heat output, well known brand, which narrowed it to this and mitsubishi h2i. This one had a better SEER (25) (which I know, in part is an upsale thing but,) and a better BTU output at lower temps, and also had wifi from the start without having to buy another device to interface with wifi (more $$, more wires ). • Ordered the indoor and outdoor unit: • https://hvacdirect.com/fujitsu-15-000... • An installation kit which includes lineset, a drain line and a wire to go from the outdoor unit to power the indoor unit: • https://hvacdirect.com/ductless-mini-... • And an installation kit that included an disconnect switch, an electrical whip to go from your disconnect switch to the outdoor unit, a surge protector and an adjustable telescoping wall sleeve to run your wire, lineset, and drain line though your wall: • https://hvacdirect.com/ductless-mini-... • Ordered it Feb 27, 2019 and received around March 6th, but a blizzard had a bit to do with that. Delivered it to my work, unloaded it right into the back of my truck with a co-workers help. Once I got home, took off the shrink wrap and un-banded the two packages from the pallet and the rest was manageable with one person. • Took 3 hours to plan out and get the bracket up level, a 3 hole drilled, indoor unit wires hooked up, and finally the line-set, wires, and drain stuck out the side of my dad's apartment. Had a hvac buddy come over and vacuum the lines which we did for 6 hours, and then released the R-134a freon. Had it all up and going after the vacuum in 10 minutes. • The unit works great so far, biggest issue is the remote interface for the daily programming. It is much easier on the smartphone app. Also if you want it to reduce to 60 when you go to work, make sure it is set to heat (in the case of winter) otherwise after you leave it kicks on the AC to get it down to 60 when in AUTO mode. The manual is hard to read, but if you can struggle though it its not a bad unit. • It is very quiet, the indoor unit you can almost never hear on AUTO fan speed, but it takes a little while to get the room up from 60 to 70 in the winter (30 mins or so). My dad cannot hear the outdoor unit unless he pays attention directly whereas the old 90's carrier unit would wake him up in bed. It has a sensor in the bottom right corner that if eco mode is turned on and looks for anything it can scan that has a much warmer or cooler temperature than the ambient air (think dog or human) and if it doesn’t detect for a certain amount of time, decreases the set temp in winter or increases it in the summer by 4 degrees to save $$. • Finally the unit has swing modes that you can turn on and off…on swings the louvers up and down, the second left and right, and a third to do both. You can also have it not swing, but set it at a particular direction, both horizontally and vertically. • Finally purchased some hide-a-line cover to put everything in and make it look nice: • https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...
