(14 Aug 1997) English/Nat • • Princess Diana's new boyfriend is making waves and breaking hearts in America. • • Dodi Fayed was apparently engaged - up until last week - to young American model Kelly Fisher, who is now suing him for breach of contract. • • Fisher claims she didn't even know their relationship was over until she saw pictures of her fiance kissing Princess Diana in the tabloids. • • A cancelled wedding, a bounced check and a broken heart - that's not all model Kelly Fisher says ex-fiance, millionaire playboy Dodi Fayed, has left her. • • The American model decided to make her week-old broken engagement public after news of Fayed's relationship with Princess Diana hit the tabloids across the globe. • • She chose high-profile attorney Gloria Allred to help her press a lawsuit against Fayed for break of contract and restitution. • • She says the two had been engaged for nearly a year and that her successful modelling career had - in essence - been put on hold to make room for Dodi. • • When she saw the pictures of Fayed and Princess Diana frolicking in the Mediterranean her heart was broken. • • Fisher - who was too upset to talk about the break - allowed attorney Allred to speak on her behalf. • • SOUNDBITE: (English) • Ms Fisher loved, trusted and believed in Mr Fayed. In return he took her love and he gave every indication that they were going to get married and that he would fulfil all of his promises to her. In the end he betrayed her and has humiliated her in the eyes of her friends and family and numerous others who were aware of the relationship and have now seen the evidence of his public betrayal of Ms Fisher. No one's daughter deserves to be treated as my daughter was. Kelly loved him, trusted him and has been treated very cruelly by him. Dodi Fayed should be ashamed of his treatment of Kelly and he has not only hurt her, but my whole family. He has integrated himself into our family and I considered him a friend.
