I whistled this anthem. • Two years ago, expecting...and still caught by surprise. This was the one person I had always hoped to meet. I liked her from my childhood. She had been Queen for 20 years by the time I arrived in the world. I always thought I would at least see her in person someday. I knew she was as close as a letter. I bought beautiful stationary. Impressive older stamps, that I thought she might like for her collection. And even as a boy who was left handed, I spent a lot of time making sure that I had decent handwriting. • What I did not have was courage.
