There’s gonna be a man cave underneath the garage floor on the new house we’re building and I’m using foam to seal between the metal decking and the framing so no concrete leaks underneath when we pour the garage floor. • This metal is 18 gauge galvanized and comes in 3-foot-wide widths that interlock one another. • My structural engineer had us frame these two temporary walls underneath the decking. They’ll support the weight of the concrete until it cures; then, the walls will be removed. • This metal comes in 25’ lengths; so by cutting them exactly in half it gave me two 12’ 6” pieces, and I did have any waste other than this one rip I had to put in. • I fastened the decking to the foundation with masonry screws. • The engineering calls for 6” of concrete on top with ½” rebar 18” on center the short way and 24” on center the long way. • Once I got the decking sealed against the house, I foamed the openings the openings on the other end. • The framers need this slab poured before they can frame the walls the need to set roof trusses, so I’m definitely feeling the pressure to get it done. • I’m hoping to get inspection towards the end of the week and pour next week. • Let me know in the comments if there’s anything specific you would like me to show on this new house build. @hausplans • #build #howto #construction #garage #floor #concrete #mancave #diy #contractor
