Trip Summary, reflection and tips for travellers. • Lake Wanaka is about an hour drive from Queenstown. The drive to Wanaka to Queenstown is absolutely magnificent, the mountains look unique and nothing like I have ever seen before. In Wanaka we stayed at the Wanaka Luxury Apartments. Here is the link to their website :https://wla.co.nz/ • I highly recommend this apartment, it was so cosy! It was spacious and it was honestly one of the best accomodations we have stayed at in New Zealand. In fact, if i return to the south island, I would stay in Wanaka and then do day trips to Queenstown, instead of staying in Queenstown. • We went for walks along lake wanaka which was about 10 minutes walk from where we were staying. Finding restaurants and places to eat in the area was a little bit hard a we had food intolerances. • From Lake Wanaka we did a day trip to Haast, the drive is absolutely beautiful. The road to haast is located between 2 parrallel lakes. Lake Wanaka and Hawea. Georgeous views. I recomend stopping at the blue pools as the scenery is so beautiful. We also went to visit several waterfalls. The highlight of the day trip is that you could see several waterfalls from the road. • In Wanaka itself, we went to Puzzling World. If you like weird experiences, i highly recommend this. • I had a lovely time in Wanaka and definitely want to go back.
