In recent years, we've had movies based off of Harry Styles fanfiction, and half the romance section of the bookstore is filled with repurposed Reylo fanfiction... I talked about how the After movie and all of its sequels (After We Collided, After We Fell, After Ever Happy, and After Everything) are movies based off of Harry Styles fanfiction, as is the recent film The Idea of You, starring Anne Hathaway. Bookstores are also filled with published Reylo (Kylo Ren x Rey) fanfiction, like The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood. Furthermore, many authors are using fanfiction tropes and terms to promote their original novels, using terms like enemies-to-lovers, slowburn, and the classic there was only one bed.
