Loganair Saab 340 Evening Crosswind Takeoff at Sumburgh Shetland

(4K, 2023) Loganair Saab 340 (G-LGNI) start-up and evening crosswind takeoff from Runway 09 at Sumburgh, Shetland Islands, Scotland, operating flight LM438 to Glasgow, in late April 2023. Includes the infamous Sumburgh runway road crossing! Skip to the takeoff at timestamp 05:05. Having flown into Sumburgh sitting behind the wing, I booked my seat for the flight back to the mainland right next to the propeller to get the full audio experience from this engine! The vibrations on the aircraft are incredible. The wind and gusts had died down a little compared to my inbound fight that morning, but there was still a 21-knot crosswind blowing across the runway, making for a wobbly departure. Gusts at the time time of the day were still blowing up to 30 knots. The takeoff view of Sumburgh cape and head, with the crashing waves in the windy weather just looked spectacular, especially with the backdrop of the setting sun as we turned South! Loganair will have retired all of their Saab 340B aircraft in favour of newer ATR aircraft by July of this year.
