So realistic looking you'll swear it's a real mug of beer!!! Although the finished product look impressive and of an advanced skill level,,, it's actually super simple!!! You'll be making professional looking gel candles of your very own! • First gather your supplies: we'll need... • 1-pound 8-ounces of Gel Wax (680 grams) • 8-ounces of paraffin wax (227 grams) • Orange/Gold liquid candle dye • 1-ounce (28 grams) of Beer scented fragrance oil (best I've found is from Natures Garden) • Whichever container you choose to use. (Dollare Tree has the beer mug used in this video, for only $1.00) • An Eco-14 wick (or appropriate size for your container) • Some sort of melting and pouring kitchen kettle and a wire whisk. • Step #1 - measure out your 1-pound 8-ounces (680-grams) of gel wax and heat to temperature. Gel wax has a higher melting point than soy wax, so will take longer to melt and will need to reach higher temperatures. 225-degrees (F) or 107-degree (C). While your gel wax is melting, go ahead and add your wick to your container. For this size I used an ECO-14 • Step #2 - transfer melted gel wax to a pouring pitcher and add your color dye. A little dye goes a long way in gel wax! One drop of orange dye is enough for this amount of gel wax. I use liquid dyes from www.lonestarcandlesupply.com • Step # 3 - We're ready to pour! We can go ahead and pour right after we mix in the color. We want the imperfections that come with pouring gel wax improperly (bubbles). Normally you would preheat the container to prevent bubbles. But since we are making a carbonated drink, we want as many bubbles in it as we can get, to make it look more authentic. Once it's poured, set it aside to cool to the point that you are able to remove the wick bar and the wick is able to stand on it's own. • Step #4 - Now that the gel has dried, we are going to get our paraffin wax ready to pour to simulate the foam at the top of a freshly poured beer. Go ahead and melt your 8-ounces (28 grams) of paraffin wax. Melt until all wax has melted and is clear liquid. • Step #5 - Once the paraffin has cooled to around 190-degrees (F) or 88-degrees (C) you can add your fragrance oil. I used 1-0unce (28 grams) of Beer scent from www.NaturesGarden.com • Step #6 - Once the paraffin has cooled to the point that it begins to form a haze over the top, you are ready to whisk the melted wax in to a foam.
