The Dexter breed is a miniature cattle breed from the Southern part of Ireland. The name has come from “Mr.Dexter”, an agent of Lord Hawarden. • The breed is almost extinct in Ireland, but thanks to few enthusiasts who kept them. Now the Dexter breed has seen a surge of interest worldwide. • A Dexter cow weighs just over 350 kg (770 pounds) and a Bull weighs 450 kg (1000 pounds). • The mature Dexter bull stands at 38 to 44 inches at the shoulder, whereas the Dexter cow is between 36 to 42 inches at the shoulder.
