Provisional Tax Returns (IRP6) for all individuals as well as companies with a February year end: Your first Provisional Tax Returns for the current 2024 tax year are due to SARS by the 31st of August 2023 (end of the month). Please ensure that you start preparing your information and submit on time to avoid penalties and interest being levied. • • Provisional Taxpayers are those Taxpayers who derive more than one source of income in a year of assessment. SARS does expect a taxpayer to know if they fit this category and they also expect a taxpayer to submit the Provisional Tax Returns tax returns that are due bi-annually to them. If you do not submit the IRP6, please note that on assessment of your annual Income Tax Return (if SARS identifies multiple streams of income and no provisional tax returns submitted) they will penalise you for under estimation of provisional tax if there is a balance of tax owing to them. • • Non- Provisional Taxpayers are those who derive only one source of income in a year of assessment and are not obliged to submit the IRP6 returns to SARS bi- annually. • • It is also important to note that if you are a director and shareholder of a private company, you are also deemed a Provisional Taxpayer and are required to submit the IRP6 returns too. (Even if they are nil submissions.) • If you require assistance on this, please get in touch with us! • #sars #stratfinn #provisionaltax #tax #efiling #penalty
