Luxury hotels are nothing new to Miami. But the Setai Miami Beach Hotel might take the prize as the most luxurious. In this Miami hotel guide, we’ll show you what it’s like inside the most expensive hotel in Miami. • The Setai Hotel is located near South Beach, and was restored from a 1936 building. The hotel gets its name from the phrase “Selatan Pantai,” which means “South Beach” in Bahasa. The name was shortened from that phrase to • “Setai.” It aims to provide a Western and Asian fusion, redesigned by Jean Michel Gathy and Jaya Ibrahim. Jean Michel Gathy intended to combine some of the influences of Art Deco with Asian culture, to create something that’s wholly distinct from the other luxury hotels of South Beach. • There are 87 art deco rooms, 50 ocean suites, and a penthouse. Of the Art Deco suites, there are three sizes: studio, junior, and one-bedroom. While the studios are small, they still do a lot with the space they have, and look quite • good. The Junior suite is a step up in space, with a more private bedroom and larger kitchen and dining area. The one-bedroom is the best of the art deco • rooms, though, and these suites have a balcony that overlooks the ocean, as well as a jacuzzi in the bathroom. The ocean suites are where things really start to look good, though there are three temperature-controlled infinity pools, and of course, the waterfront location means it’s just steps away from the beach and ocean. There are not only day-beds for you to relax in on the beach, but there’s also a jet ski rental service. The pools, on the other hand, all have different temperatures, from 75 to 90 • degrees. There’s also a bar available if you want to grab a drink. The Setai also offers tour guides for things to do in Miami, and custom-designed bicycles for riding on sand, which can be rented at any time for free by guests. • The Setai is not cheap at all, especially considering many of the rooms are one bedroom — at least the beds are big enough for two, and other sleeping arrangements can be made for a third person. The studio suites are the cheapest, of course, but even those will cost upwards of $700 a night. • If you’re looking for a luxury hotel in Miami, the Setai is a great option. • However, it doesn’t really do a whole lot to separate itself from other luxury • hotels, other than its Asian-inspired design and decor. Most of the amenities that the Setai offers are also offered at other hotels. Of course, it’s hard to argue with the service of the Setai — it’s received rave reviews from critics and tourists • alike. There’s no denying that Miami has a lot to do, and the Setai is a great place to stay while doing those things. However, if you plan on going for one of the smaller rooms in particular, it’s hard to deny that the luxuriousness of the Setai is a little lacking. If you can’t afford a two-bedroom or simply don’t need that much space, and don’t plan to spend much time at the hotel while visiting Miami, you may want to consider other, cheaper options. That said, the two-bedroom suites are very nice and have fantastic views, meaning while they’re more expensive, you’re more likely to be getting your money’s worth. • ★★★ Thank you so much for watching our video!
