During December 2016, Holzmann CFD investigated into the correct set-up of the Arbitrary Coupled Mesh Interface (ACMI) boundary condition to model a complex fan design. The advantage of using ACMI and not the counter-partner AMI (Arbitrary Mesh Interface) is related to the blocked walls of the rotating blades. It should be clear that AMI could be used in the case too, but will result in larger meshes based on the missing option for blocked patches.
