Watch the video here: • Crochet Stitch Tutorial: Double Croch... • The double crochet two together (DC2tog - US terms, treble crochet two together TR2tog in UK terms) is a method of decreasing number of stitches per row. The technique can be used for shaping, such as when creating panels for crocheted garments, and is commonly used as part of larger stitch repeats to create a different stitch pattern - such as in the cluster v stitch, or ripple stitch (links below). Essentially, one double crochet stitch (US) is used to join two stitches together, as follows; • How to: identify the next two stitches. Yarn over, insert hook into the first stitch, pull up a loop. Three loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through two loops. This leaves two loops on the hook. This beginning is identical to the beginning of a regular DC (US - aka TR in UK terms). Now stop - do NOT complete the stitch. Instead, yarn over again, insert hook into the NEXT stitch, pull up a loop. This gives four loops on the hook. Now, yarn over, and pull through two loops, leaving three loops on the hook. Finally, yarn over once more, and pull through all three loops.
