Election day has arrived and we spend some time looking at the local political picture including the hotly contested race between D'Esposito and Gillen for the 4th congressional district. Ed Ra was also running for reelection in the 19th assembly district for NY, not that anyone knew the race was underway. • The case of State Trooper Thomas Mascia gets more complicated by the day, as the story of his shooting in a traffic stop is apparently unraveling and the trooper has been suspended. The police blotter is full this week as a Brooklyn man was arrested for resisting arrest and assaulting an officer when he attempted to access a frozen account at a local bank. • The dry weather conditions led to a brush fire at Hempstead Lake State Park, the town offers trees for planting, and the ragamuffins paraded in West Hempstead. • All this and more on #thisweekinwesthempstead
