A playthrough of Nintendo's 2003 JRPG for the Game Boy Advance, Mother, as it appears in the Mother 1 + 2 compilation. • Since the game wasn't officially released in English, I am using a fan-made translation patch. You can find the patch at https://github.com/jeffman/Mother2Gba... if you're interested in playing it yourself. • If you'd prefer to see the original NES game, you can find it here: • Earthbound Beginnings (NES) Playthrou... I also did my normal write-up for the game for that video, so check out if you'd like to read it. I didn't think it necessary to repeat myself here. • This re-release of the game is pretty similar to the original 1989 Famicom game. It adds in some nice quality of life features, like the run button that was only present in the unreleased English version, • The GBA's lower resolution required the interface to be tweaked and the sound is a little off due to the Game Boy's lack of a triangle channel, but otherwise it's the same game, uncompromised, in handheld form. • The real reason to play this one is the quality of the translation. It's far more fleshed out and has more personality than the fairly dry official translation. The patch also adds in a new item, the easy ring, that rebalances a few things to make the game easier to play through. I didn't use it in this video (honestly, I didn't find the game terribly challenging to begin with), but the option is there if you like the idea of a more casual-friendly experience. • Would anyone be interested in seeing a playthrough of the GBA version of Earthbound? • If you'd like to see the other games in the series, I have recorded playthroughs of them as well: • Earthbound Beginnings (NES): • Earthbound Beginnings (NES) Playthrou... • Earthbound (SNES): • EarthBound (SNES) Playthrough [Pt. 1 ... • Mother 3 (GBA): • Mother 3 (GBA) Playthrough [1 of 2] -... • *This video was recorded using a Retroarch shader to mimic the look of the original hardware. • _____________ • No cheats were used during the recording of this video. • • NintendoComplete (http://www.nintendocomplete.com/) punches you in the face with in-depth reviews, screenshot archives, and music from classic 8-bit NES games!
