How to make your own Macadamia Butter. • MACADAMIA BUTTER • (And/or Pecan or Cashew) • You will need: • Macadamia nuts (natural or pre-roasted) • (Cashews or pecans if you choose) • Coconut oil • Food processor • Oven if natural nuts. • Weigh out the nuts using how much you would normally eat in a day. • For Phil it's 30g per day, therefore for a 6 day hike x 30 is 180g per pouch. • If pre-roasted nuts - skip this oven section. • Roast natural nuts in a pre-heated moderate 180 deg C oven. Watch carefully as the heat releases the oils (great for butter, but burns easily). • Try 6 mins then check and go 2 mins at a time after that. • When cool, place in a food processor and scrape down regularly. Pecans take longer and are not as oily and will usually need coconut oil to help in the machine to make it runny enough. • I usually mix a portion of cashews/pecans in a batch of Macadamias when I use the other nuts. • Using a jug or something with a pouring spout, add nut butter and oil. • For Phil I add 15ml per day so a 6 day hike is 15 x 6 = 90ml. • Mix together and pour into what receptacle or bag you are using. • Freeze bag/pouch/sachet to vacuum seal or if using a container - you are good to go. • Hope you enjoy it. • Phil Cathy • Music: https://www.bensound.com/royalty-free...
