00:00 : Introduction to video • 00:18 : Sarcomeres are made up of myosin, actin. • 1:44 : ATP is broken down to power muscle contraction • 1:59 : Calcium allows for myosin to bind to actin • 2:27 : The power stroke generates force • 2:42 : ATP binds myosin, causing muscle relaxation • 3:06 : Summary of all the steps involved in the cross bridge cycle. • 4:05 : Definition of the sliding filament theory of muscle contraction • Full explanation of skeletal muscle contraction: • Excitation Contraction Coupling and t... • In this video, we review the cross-bridge cycle and the steps that lead to skeletal muscle contraction. We'll review the power stroke, how ATP and calcium are involved, and the role of key proteins like tropomyosin and troponin. We also introduce the rigor state, in which myosin stays bound to actin. • Physio Flip contains a semester's worth of physiology lectures, created by a physiology professor. I made this channel to help my students learn physiology on their own time, at their own pace. To help others do the same, I published my lectures. • This channel is dedicated to helping students and instructors navigate physiology by providing full access to a semester's worth of physiology videos. Some videos are entire lectures while others are one part of a lecture. You can follow through the video series in order by following the numbers that are in each video title. For instructors interested in using these lectures to flip your course, please contact us!
