Ever wondered How to Cook Laing? • Just follow this simple and delicious LAING RECIPE . • Laing is a Filipino dish of shredded or whole taro leaves with meat or seafood cooked in thick coconut milk spiced with labuyo chili, lemongrass, garlic, shallots, ginger, and shrimp paste. • Laing is the name of the dish in most parts of the Philippines, but it is more commonly known as pinangat in the Bicol region where it originated. • (Source: Wikipedia) • *THE RECIPE IN THIS VIDEO CONTAINS APPROXIMATE MEASUREMENTS AND MAY BE ADJUSTED ACCORDING TO YOUR LIKING • LAING RECIPE • INGREDIENTS: • 2 PACKS OF DRIED TARO LEAVES • 1LB PORK BELLY(DICED) • 3 CANS OF COCONUT MILK • 2 LARGE KNOBS OF GINGER(MINCED) • 4 HOT PEPPERS(ADJUST TO YOUR LIKING) • 1 MEDIUM ONION(DICED) • 6 GARLIC CLOVES(CRUSHED) • 100ML ANCHOVY SAUCE(BAGOONG BALAYAN) • COOKING INSTRUCTIONS: • *SOAK DRIED TARO LEAVES IN WATER. RINSE AND SQUEEZE LEAVES UNTIL WATER IS SEMI-CLEAR. LITTLE CLOUDINESS IS OKAY. • 1. SAUTE PORK UNTIL LIGHTLY BROWN ON THE EDGES • 2. ADD GINGER AND ONIONS, SAUTE FOR 2 MINUTES UNTIL ONIONS ARE TRANSLUCENT. • 3. ADD GARLIC CLOVES • 4. ADD 2 CANS OF COCONUT MILK AND SIMMER ON MEDIUM HEAT FOR 5 MINUTES • 5. ADD ANCHOVY SAUCE(BAGOONG BALAYAN) AND SIMMER ON MEDIUM HEAT FOR ANOTHER 5 MINUTES • 6. ADD TARO LEAVES(DO NOT MIX) AND LIGHTLY SUBMERGE THEM HALFWAY IN THE COCONUT MILK. • 7. PLACE HOT CHILLIES ON TOP, COVER AND SIMMER FOR 20 MINUTES ON MEDIUM HEAT. • *CHECK ON THE LAING AND MAKE SURE IT DOESN'T STICK TO THE BOTTOM OF THE POT. • 8. STIR LAING AND CHECK IF THE TARO LEAVES ABSORBED MOST OF THE LIQUID. IF THERE IS A LOT OF LIQUID, CONTINUE TO SIMMER FOR 15 MINUTES MORE. • 9. COOK THE LAING UNTIL YOU THE TARO LEAVES ARE TENDER AND EASY TO TEAR APART.
