Gythio in Peloponnese Greece is a small port town but the Capital of Mani. Gythio or Gytheio Γύθειο is a wonderful town to spend a few days with lots to see and do. Our travel guide to Gythio will show you all you need to know about this beautiful town. • Gythio formally the port of Sparta sits on the north east side of the Peloponnese in the Mani Peninsula. This charming town is popular with greeks from Athen's looking to escape the city for a weekend break. The beaches and seafood make it a hotspot for tourists. • We picked the Las Hotel and Spa, https://lashotel.gr/ a modern new addition to Gythio as our base. The stunning views from the rooftop bar and pool area really made it the only place to stay for us. Check out our review of this hotel here. • This is a great walking town, with a lovely promenade with outdoor bars and restaurants.
