After rapidly progressing with CAD and 3D printing, I decided it was time to expand my skills and try something new. As a CNC beginner, I decided to buy the 3018 CNC Router. This router provides an excellent foundation to build from. Using this machine I can learn all about CNC software such as Grbl, Easel, and Fusion 360 CAM. • I also discuss my ideas for how I plan to upgrade the 3018 CNC machine in order to improve it's capabilities. I will do this by upgrading the existing 100W spindle motor to a 300W spindle motor. I will also be looking at increasing the gantry height to maximize my Z-axis, and adding a third smooth rod to the back of the machine to minimise flexing. • In the video I show you some of my first CNC cuts, all of which turned out good!
