Bird Girl - A Folk Tale From The Balkans • Hi, and welcome back to Tales From The World's Firesides. I'm Clive Gilson, The Story Guy. Today I'm telling a traditional Balkan folk tale called Bird Girl. The source for this tale is an original story in Serbian Folk-lore by Madame Elodie L. Mijatovich, published by The Columbus Printing, Publishing Advertising Company, 1899 • This tale appears in my book, Tales From The Samodivi, which contains around 25 traditional Balkan folk tales. As ever, my main aim is to tell stories that might otherwise be forgotten or lost to modern readers, tales that help us share our cultures and maybe make the world a little less complex. • I love the fact that this story features themes of transformation, freedom, and liberation, and in such a fun way.
